Pollock Portions in High Demand
by Mary Harmon
The At Sea Processor's Association rallied once again to generate their annual pollock and hake donations to SeaShare resulting in 450,000 servings of delicious, lightly breaded, 4 oz. oven ready portions. Both east and west coast food banks benefited from this project. Food bank clients find these items delicious and easy to prepare.
APA members have been donating pollock and hake annually to SeaShare for many years. SeaShare receives the fish and sends it to be processed at Trident Seafoods, on the west coast, and Highliner Foods, on the east coast. Both processors donate breading and packaging and deeply discount their processing time to SeaShare. Our most recent project concluded in June thanks to pollock and hake donations from Glacier Fish, Arctic Fjord, Arctic Storm and Coastal Villages.
We still have a few more donations to receive from APA members this year so we anticipate getting even more of this tasty product out to food banks across the country before year end. Thank you to all the companies who participate in this annual project!
