Giving Back in Boston: Seafood Expo North America Gives Big to the Greater Boston Food Bank
The SeaShare team was in Boston recently for the Seafood Expo North America. Not sure what that is? It's the biggest seafood show in the country, and it happens each March at the convention center in Boston. It's a place where thousands of people from around the world gather to see the latest seafood products, whether you're growing salmon in Scotland or shrimping in the Gulf of Mexico, kelp from Alaska, oysters from Maryland, you get the idea.
So what happens to all of those products on display? Well, all of the seafood that is packaged is sent to the Greater Boston Food Bank at the end of the show. This year, with support and coordination from SeaShare, the Greater Boston Food Bank was able to collect 34,860 pounds of seafood for their food bank, food pantry, feeding center partners. That's almost 140,000 servings of high quality seafood for people who struggle with hunger.
We are thankful to partner with the Greater Boston Food Bank, the Boston Convention and Visitor's Bureau, and Diversified Communications to make sure this donation happens each year.
