SeaShare Receives ReFED COVID-19 Food Waste Solutions Fund Grant

SeaShare is excited to announce that we have received one of the very first ReFED COVID-19 Food Waste Solutions grants. This grant is being used to urgently send 750,000 seafood to food banks and feeding centers across the country. “COVID-19 has disrupted the regular flow of the food supply chain, making it difficult to get fresh, healthy food to the people who need it most and increasing the amount of food insecurity,” said Alexandria Coari, Capital and Innovation Director at ReFED, a national nonprofit working to advance solutions to reduce the amount of food waste. “The work of organizations like SeaShare is urgent, and we’re excited to get them the critical support they need from the ReFED COVID-19 Food Waste Solutions Fund.”

The National Fisheries Institute's Future Leaders Program: Washington D.C., May 2019

SeaShare is honored to be participating in the National Fisheries Institute's Future Leaders program in 2019. This program selects 40 future leaders in the national seafood industry each year to take part in a traveling leadership program, learning about industry issues across the country, making professional connections, and in Washington, D.C., participating in a day-long advocacy day with members of congress.

Giving Back in Boston: Seafood Expo North America Gives Big to the Greater Boston Food Bank

The SeaShare team was in Boston recently for the Seafood Expo North America. Not sure what that is? It's the biggest seafood show in the country, and it happens each March at the convention center in Boston. It's a place where thousands of people from around the world gather to see the latest seafood products, whether you're growing salmon in Scotland or shrimping in the Gulf of Mexico, kelp from Alaska, oysters from Maryland, you get the idea.
